Conference, Travel, Exhibition and Popular Lectures (CTEP)

To popularise Biotechnology activities in India, Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India provides financial assistance towards organizing Conference/ Seminar/ Symposium/ Workshop and Travel support to the researchers for presenting their papers in the conferences which are being organised outside the country. It also extends support for organising DBT stalls in Exhibitions held within the country as well as outside the country. Financial supports are also provided for organising Popular Lectures. The collective term for these four activities is CTEP (Conference, Travel, Exhibition and Popular Lectures).

The travel program of CTEP is open w.e.f. 25.04.2024 for :
(a) Indian students and Post doctoral Fellows
(b) Teachers, Scientists, Professors, etc. working at Government Universities and Government Institutions (Centre and State)

    Financial Assistance for holding National or International Conference / Seminar / Symposium / Workshop

    The department of biotechnology (DBT) will consider proposals under the Travel Support Scheme for financial assistance to scientists/ researchers involved in Biotechnology for presenting their research papers in international conferences/ Seminars/ Symposia/ Workshops which are being held outside India relevant to the areas of interest and the projects/ programmes of the Department. The scheme provides up to full reimbursement of the actual return airfare in economy / excursion class by Air-India to applicants from the nearest airport to the place of work in India to the venue of the conference/ Seminar/ Symposia/ Workshop. The event should be of international nature sponsored by foreign governments, international organizations or institutions under the aegis of multilateral, regional or bilateral arrangements.

    The organizer of national/international conferences, seminars etc having exhibition as part of this event can submit proposals seeking DBT's pavilion/stall as part of the event.
  • Popular Lectures

    Popular Lectures

    The Department of Biotechnology will consider proposals under the Scheme - Popular Lectures in biotechnology by Experts for popularization of biotechnology for financial assistance from Institutions / Universities which are actively working in the research area of Biotechnology. The Popular Lectures in biotechnology by experts should be organized for students from schools, colleges, universities & also for general public to bring general awareness among them about the basic concepts, recent advances & potential of modern Biology & Biotechnology.
  • Online Submission and Monitoring System (OSMoSys)
    for Conference, Travel, Exhibition, and Popular Lectures

    DBT has introduced a web portal i.e. Online Submission and Monitoring System (OSMoSys) which would act as a single window for the submission, processing and settlement of grants that would not only ease the assistance process but also provide timely deliverable.

Online/Virtual Conferences
 The proposals recommended by the Committee would be funded @ Rs. 8,000/- per day under the virtual Conference category

Online Seminars (Webinar) under Popular Lecture component
 The proposals recommended by the Committee would be funded @ Rs. 8,000/- per webinar under the virtual Popular Lecture category (series of three lectures)

  Register: Organisations which were registered before June 2018 need to be registered afresh for their updated antecedents before applying for financial assistance under CTEP.
